Title for T.K. Murthy

CHENNAI: The Narada Gana Sabha on Friday conferred the "Nadabrahmam" title on T.K.Murthy and presented the Senior Musician Award to Ananthalakshmi Sadagopan, eminent Carnatic musicians, on the occasion of the inauguration of its "Isai Natya Nataka Vizha" here.

Swami Gautamanandaji, president, Ramakrishna Math, Chennai, conferred the title and presented the citation and a cash award of Rs.20,000 to Mr. Murthy, and cash award of Rs.10,000 to Mrs. Ananthalakshmi Sadagopan.

The citation, read out by sabha secretary R. Krishnaswami, said the title was being conferred on Mr.Murthy "as a mark of personal distinction in the propagation of Carnatic music." Sabha president R. Krishnamoorthy said several attractive programmes have been listed for this year's festival, which would be held till January 2.
