Temple issue: Minister asks Orissa to ensure social justice
NEW DELHI:
Against the backdrop of the controversy over Dalits entering the 300-year-old Jagannath temple in Keredagada village, the Centre on Saturday asked the Orissa Government to ensure social justice in the State.
Speaking at the Global Convention of NRIs and Non-Resident Oriyas on ``Emerging Opportunities in Orissa'', Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi said:
"Nobody should be prevented from entering the temple on the basis of their caste."
He said the Orissa Government should focus on ensuring social justice along with developments in other fields.
