Double for R.I. Singh in above-55 category

HYDERABAD: R.I. Singh of Delhi bagged a double winning the above-55 singles and doubles titles in the 11th GVK-AITA Seniors (veterans) tennis championship at the Fateh Maidan Tennis Complex here on Saturday.

Singh put it across V. Rammohan Rao (AP) 6-1, 6-1 in the singles final and then combined with R.R. Wade to down the pair of Madan Mohan and M.S.V. Chalam 6-3, 6-3 in the doubles final.

Other results:

Above-45 years: Doubles: V.T. Ranganath/ Settu bt K.R. Raman/ V. Shankar 6-4, 6-4.

Above-65: Singles: Indrajit Singh (U.S.A.) bt Kesav Perumal (TN) 6-2, 7-6(3). Doubles: Changappa/ R. Ananda bt C.B. Raju/ Chiranjeevi 6-1, 6-2.

Athletics meet

The 43rd all-India Public Schools athletic meet will be organised from December 19 to 21 at HPS (Begumpet). About 200 athletes from all over the country will take part in the meet, which is deemed as a selection tournament for the National Schools Games to be held in Mumbai later this month. Special incentives will be given to the best athletes. A specially laid eight-lane track would be in use for the meet.

5-wkt. win for Raj Jyot

Raj Jyot XI scored a five-wicket win against Dudes XI in the fifth Jai Bhagawathi floodlit cricket tournament here.

The scores:

Dudes XI 161 for seven (Dheeraj 53, Agarwal 45) lost to Raj Jyot XI 167 for five (Bajrang 55 not out, Rishab Agarwal 45 not out).

TKR posts win

TKR College scored a four-wicket win over Greenfort College in the CMR Champions Trophy inter-college cricket tournament in Medchal near here.

The scores: Greenfort 98 for eight lost to TKR College 104 for six.

QUBA Engg. College 135 for six lost to VBIT 136 for two (Tejo 53).

Amina Engg. College 114 for four lost to BSIT 118 for four (Ravi Teja 36).

MRCP College 68 lost to CVR College 69 for one.

Microsoft and Satyam will clash in the final of the CII Andhra Pradesh Cup cricket tournament on Sunday. In the semifinals on Saturday, Microsoft scored a six-wicket win over Tata Group, while Satyam defeated Airtel by 11 runs.

The scores:

Tata Group 94 lost to Microsoft 95 for four.

Satyam 146 for five (Suresh 74) bt Airtel 135 for seven.
