WRECKING BALL: In an exhilarating spell of swing and cut at pace, S. Sreesanth destroyed the South African batting line-up at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday. The 23-year-old fast bowler from Kerala registered his first five-wic ket haul (five for 40).
CHENNAI:
After dismissing South Africa in the first innings for 84 and extending its lead to 311, India was in a commanding position on the second day of the first Test at the New Wanderers stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday. At close of play, India was 146 for five in its second knock. V.V.S. Laxman was unbeaten on 42, M.S. Dhoni on 17.
S. Sreesanth took five wickets in an inspired burst of swing bowling, as South Africa collapsed in 25.1 overs. Zaheer Khan and Anil Kumble took two wickets each. This counts among the best bowling performances by an Indian side overseas. South Africa's score was its lowest since readmission into international cricket. Earlier, Sourav Ganguly scored an unbeaten 51 to help India post 249 in its first innings.
