KOZHIKODE: The Congress will be organising demonstrations at all panchayats on December 20 to press for the resignation of Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy. At a press conference in Kozhikode on Saturday, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala demanded the resignation of the Health Minister as she failed to tackle effectively the problems that rocked the health sector in recent months. Mr. Chennithala said Ms. Sreemathy failed to manage the crises caused by the chikungunya outbreak and more recently the situation arising out of the death of a student in Kozhikode district allegedly because of complications arising from a vaccination given to her at her school. Quality of health services in Government hospitals had also declined sharply because of lack of medicine, he alleged. Congress workers would organise demonstrations at all panchayats on December 20 to press for her resignation and protest against the "inefficiency that has become the trademark of the LDF Government". Mr. Chennithala earlier in the day inaugurated a dharna by Congress workers in front of the Kozhikode Collectorate.
