Kakinada: The EDUSAT project network programmes through `Mana TV' will be extended to more rural areas by expanding the terminal centres by adding 8,000 new terminals to the existing 2,190 in the State, according to V.Ramarao, Chief Executive Officer of the Society for Andhra Pradesh Net work that operates the `Mana TV'. Participating in the `Meet the Press' programme organised by the Press Club here on Saturday, he said, the 20 terminals set up in the Medical Colleges, that facilitates the two way video conferencing would be put to effective use by arranging the `Face to Face' interaction to the students with the subject specialists. Of the total five channels beamed by the `Mana TV', he claimed second and fifth channels were the most sought after by students and other sections in view of the novel education programmes being telecast.
Knowledge centres
Ramarao said the fifth channel was providing the inputs to Jawahar Knowledge Centres (JKC) mostly on development of soft skills and it has received tremendous response from the students. He claimed that after the introduction of the programme, there was a great impact with the number of students getting selected in the campus interviews registering 20 per cent growth. As a result, he said, the inputs programme to JKCs, which is now confined to one hour daily, was being extended to 10 hours.
Regular cable
Ramarao said the `Mana TV' programmes would soon be beamed through the regular cable net works instead of KV band and already negotiations are in progress.
