Traders' rally today

NEW DELHI: A large number of traders will hold a "Sangharsh Sankalp" rally at Ajmal Khan Park in Karol Bagh here on Sunday in protest against the ongoing sealing drive in the Capital.

Prominent trade leaders from Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra are expected to attend the rally organised by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).

College festival

NEW DELHI: Bringing together students from different colleges, Sri Venkateswara College here is organising an inter-college academic and cultural festival, "Nexus-2006", this coming week. Union Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh will inaugurate the three-day festival on Wednesday.

A popular festival among students of Delhi University, it will have events like debates, quiz competitions and music performances.

A musical treat

NEW DELHI: Students from 16 New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC)-run schools attended a classical music concert at the musical fountain of Rashtrapati Bhavan recently. Over 2,000 of them got a chance to see this extravaganza of light, sound and music.

Apart from getting to see the musical fountains, the children also interacted with President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

IGNOU plans portal

NEW DELHI: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will soon launch an interactive portal to disseminate information about its accredited programmes.

According to IGNOU Vice-Chancellor V.N. Rajasekharan, the portal will be informative and transactional designed to facilitate online access. It will provide a single window to all stakeholders of IGNOU.

Vishnu Sahasranama competition

NEW DELHI: Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam Satsangam, R.K. Puram, is conducting a Vishnu Sahasranama recitation finals competition for school children on December 24 at Devi Kamakshi Mandir, opposite JNU on Aruna Asif Ali Road.

The finalists in different categories were selected in the preliminary round of the competition held last month for children studying in schools other than DTEA/Andhra schools. Further details can be had on phone from the Trustee, T. Subramanian, at 26898956 and 28549586.

Sunny Saturday

New Delhi: A bright and sunny morning greeted Delhiites on Saturday as the minimum temperature in the Capital continued to remain above normal. The weather was clear and flights operated on schedule for the second day . The minimum temperature was 9.1 degrees Celsius.
