New Delhi
NEW DELHI: Miranda House of Delhi University organised a three-day Certificate Course on "Awareness on Consumer Rights" jointly with Consumer Voice earlier this week as part of National Consumer Day celebrations. The workshop included a variety of programmes. Eminent consumer rights activists made presentations. There were also film shows on consumer rights, exhibition, poster competition, plays and group presentations by participating students.
Consumer helpline
The workshop was inaugurated by Sri Ram Khanna, Managing Editor of Consumer Voice. He elaborated on the role of the national consumer help line and the three-tier system that a consumer needs to follow. This was followed by an open house discussion initiated by Jayashree Pillai, the course coordinator, who said her experience with consumer courts had proved that consumer rights awareness is very important and that it is high time the Government came out with a national consumer policy.
Consumer club
Miranda House Principal Pratibha Jolly announced plans for formation of a Consumer Club in the college. She said the college was also exploring the possibility of introducing Consumer Affairs as an application course for B.A. students and also as an add-on course for students from other disciplines.
