Acquitted CPI(M) workers released

Taken out in a procession to Kannur town

KANNUR: Three of the four CPI(M) workers acquitted by the Supreme Court in the K.T. Jayakrishnan murder case were released from the Central Jail here on Saturday.

Hundreds of CPI(M) workers from different parts of the district gathered near the prison to receive Nallaveetil Shaji, Chathampalli Dinesh Kumar and K.K. Anilkumar.

Kunhipunathil Sundaran, another accused who was also acquitted, was not released as he was undergoing imprisonment in the jail in another case.

The released were taken from the jail in a procession to the town. Jubilant party workers burst crackers to receive them. They were given reception on their way to their homes. Hundreds of party workers gathered at Thalssery and Koothuparamba to receive the acquitted party workers.

Among the party leaders who were present on the jail premises to receive the acquitted included E.P. Jayarajan, P. Sasi, P. Jayarajan, MLA, M. Prakashan, MLA, district secretary M.V. Govindan and M.V. Jayarajan.
