KSEB union defers plan for strike

Special Correspondent

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The Kerala Electricity Employees' Confederation affiliated to the INTUC has decided to defer the strike called on December 18.

Confederation general secretary Sajeev Janardhanan said in a statement here on Saturday that the decision to put off the strike was taken on the basis of talks held with Labour Commissioner K.V. Mohandas.

Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) officials who took part in the talks said that salary would be revised in the second week of January and sought more time to discuss the specific details.

The board officials assured to fill up the vacancies and implement the High Court verdict issued in June to avoid deaths due to power accidents.

Threatens stir

If the board failed to honour the commitment, the federation would go on strike from mid-January.

Confederation working president C. Ramachandran Nair, treasurer N. Salim Rawther and board secretary M. Subair, personnel officer T.K. Sasi attended the discussion.
