MANGALORE: The special team constituted to investigate the murder of BJP leader Sukhananda Shetty on Saturday arrested two more involved in the offence. They are Abdul Rahman alias Dadapal (27), a resident of Kalladka, Golthamajalu village in Bantwal taluk, and Mohammed Shakir (26), a resident of Mulki. B. Dayananda, Superintendent of Police, said Rahman was nabbed at Farangipete in Bantwal taluk and Shakir was arrested at Haleyangadi in Mangalore taluk. With this, the total number of persons arrested in this case has gone up to seven. Mr. Dayananda said that Rahman was an anti-social element, and was involved in five communal cases, two of which involve cases of attempt to murder. He was directly involved in the Shetty murder case, as he had accompanied the team that went in the stolen Qualis and attacked Mr. Shetty near his office at Kulai on December 1. Shakir was found to be involved in the conspiracy to attack and kill Mr. Shetty, Mr. Dayananda said. He had provided assistance and actively aided and abetted the other accused in committing this offence, he said. Efforts were on to arrest others who were involved in the offence, he added.
