HYDERABAD: District Collector R.V.Chandravadan inspected transit homes run by NGOs for rescued child labourers here on Saturday. He interacted with children at Kavadiguda transit home run by HCHW and another at Secunderabad run by M/s Sidur and found them to be happy and with good quality food being served to them. He however, directed the transit home at Secunderabad to be shifted to a better place in view of unhygienic conditions there. National Child Labour Project Director Siraj-ur-Rahman accompanied the Collector. He said one could give information about domestic child labour on Phone No.23204123, 24650326 and two 24-hour helplines were also set up with Ph.No. 64521098, 64521060.
Heritage buildings
Meanwhile, a detailed report on the status of heritage buildings in the old Gandhi Medical College complex at Basheerbagh will be submitted to the High Court by December 20, said Collector R.V.Chandravadan here on Saturday. The Collector had inspected the old Gandhi Medical College complex as per the directive of the High Court with regard to a PIL that heritage buildings in the complex were being demolished to pave way for the proposed Urban Entertainment Centre. He said that though the complex was allotted for tourism development, Government issued some guidelines for preserving heritage buildings.
