CHENNAI: The first meeting of the coordination and monitoring panel for the implementation of projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission held here on Saturday cleared proposals for schemes for enhancing basic amenities in urban areas at a cost of Rs. 372.9 crore and 36 new integrated housing and slum area development projects to be carried out through the Commissioner of Municipal Administration at a cost of Rs.86.90 crore. The meeting chaired by Minister for Local Administration M.K. Stalin also reviewed 27 projects to construct flyovers and drinking water supply schemes to be implemented by the Tamil Nadu Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs.705 crore. One of the flyovers would be constructed across the Adyar River along the Saidpet-Alandur road at a cost of Rs.6.37 crore, an official release said. The schemes for enhancing basic amenities in urban areas would be implemented by the Tamil Nadu Housing Board, Madurai Corporation and Chennai Corporation, the release added.
