HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy underscored the need to improve infrastructure in urban areas and affirmed that his Government will not be found wanting in providing basic amenities like water, roads, power, streetlights and drains to the people. Dr. Reddy pointed out that migration to urban areas was a reality and it was imperative the Government initiate steps to take care of the needs of people coming from the rural areas.
Stone laid
The Chief Minister was addressing a gathering after laying the foundation stone for construction of a road over bridge to be taken up by Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (HUDA) near Hi Tec City station. The four lane ROB to cost Rs. 24.4 crores and to be completed in 15 months time will greatly reduce the travel time to Hi Tec City and its environs from Kukatpally side. Responding to a plea made by senior Congress leader P. Janardhan Reddy, he also assured that alternate site will be provided for burial ground for the communities concerned as the proposed ROB is said to be passing through them. Minister for Mines Sabitha Indra Reddy, Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav and HUDA Chairman D. Sudhir Reddy participated.
