Christmas celebrations

The 28th United Christmas Celebrations - 2006 will be held on Monday from 6 p.m. onwards at Lalitha Kala Thoranam, Public Gardens, in the city. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy would be the chief guest. Further information can be had on: 9866017589/27865631.

Pension adalat

The pending pension-related grievances of some 190 retired railway employees were settled at a pension adalat held by South Central Railway officials here on Friday. An amount of Rs. 11,22,322 was disbursed among the pensioners towards settlement of dues on the spot, according to a press release.

Contract staff take out rally

Members of AP State Medical and Health Contract Employees' Association on Friday took out a `Chalo Assembly' rally demanding regularisation of services of 2,400 paramedical staff, male health assistants, lab technicians and pharmacists. Earlier, the employees from different districts marched in a procession from Sundarayya Park carrying placards and raising slogans.

Redesignation of police post

The post of Additional Commissioner (co-ordination) in Hyderabad Police Commissionerate, presently held by Vinay Kumar Singh, has been re-designated as Additional CP (law and order).

With his retention, Mr. Singh became the first police officer to occupy the newly created post.

Electricity bill counters

The cash collection centres in the city division VIII will remain open on Sunday to facilitate consumers pay their electricity bills. The counters would be open in Asmangadh, Saidabad, Saleem Nagar, Santosh Nagar, Bhavani Nagar (Thalab Katta), Madannapet, Chanchalguda ERO Office, Dabeerpura and Chaderghat from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to a release.
