Dismissed cop held
The accused, Raj Kumar, was arrested following a complaint by a resident of Ghaziabad, Gulam Sarvar, that he was demanding Rs.1 lakh from him. The accused had picked up the victim from East Delhi and forced him to sign a paper accepting that heroin had been recovered from his possession, the police said. Raj Kumar had joined the Delhi police on deputation as a constable in 1985 and was absorbed in the force five years later. In 1997, he was dismissed following disciplinary action.
Four arrested
Four vehicles including two cars have been recovered and seven cases of auto thefts and chain snatching worked out with the arrest, the police said. Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid on Loni Road at Shahdara and two young men on a motorcycle were arrested. Similarly, two more arrests were made at New Seemapuri in East Delhi. The accused -- Sonu, Parveen, Ravinder and Pawan -- were allegedly lured into crime as they wanted to lead a lavish life.
Woman dies
According to the police, Lucy left the beauty parlour around 8 p.m. on Friday with a 38-year-old man, Ajay Luthra, in a car. The two had dinner together and later took drinks as well, the police said. Later Lucy fell unconscious and Ajay took her to Bara Hindu Rao Hospital where she was declared brought dead.
