BANGALORE: Citizens can now get their building plans sanctioned within 72 hours through the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike's (BMP) single window system, if the plan prepared and documents are in order. To reduce inordinate procedural delay in sanction of plans for residential buildings, the civic body on Saturday launched `Suvarna Paravanige,' wherein plans will be sanctioned within three working days. Under this scheme, citizens need not go beyond filing an application at the single window. The scheme is initially restricted to residential plans on site area not exceeding 4,000 square feet (ground plus three upper floors on a 50 X 80 ft site), BMP Commissioner K. Jairaj said on Saturday. The scheme follows the principles of the Self Assessment Scheme (SAS) of property tax and the onus of complying with the bylaws is left with the citizens. The plans submitted will have to be certified by architects and engineers registered with the BMP and an affidavit will also have to be enclosed, according to him. The prescribed application form along with the list of documents to be filed was available at the single window counter of all BMP zonal offices. Once the application was submitted along with the prescribed fee, the officials would tally the documents enclosed with the checklist and inform the citizen if more documents were to be enclosed. If the plan was not sanctioned with three days, citizens could lodge a complaint with the Joint Commissioner of the respective zone or Joint Director of Town Planning along with photocopies of the documents submitted.
