Chivas Gold triumphs

HYDERABAD: Mr. K.R.K. Raju's Chivas Gold (Suresh up) won the Ghulam Ahmed Memorial Cup, the main event of the races here on Sunday.

The Sunday crowd got unruly, unhappy with jockey A. Imran Khan's riding of odds-on favourite Khaleels Pride in the second race, the day's main event. A lengthy enquiry into the incident by the stewards then followed, which delayed the proceedings by about two hours.

Note: An objection was raised by Sreekant, rider of Jazz Man, who finished second, against Laxmikanth, rider of Benazir, the winner. Sreekant said that at the 150m mark, Laxmikanth came and bumped him, which caused the former to lose his stride and the race consequently. The Hyderabad Race Club stewards overruled the objection and the original order was retained.
