The selected children will be trained in street plays and performing arts They will also conduct exhibitions at village and panchayat level
Krishnagiri: District Collector Santhosh Babu has instructed Headmasters of Government Schools to select 10 outstanding students studying Standard Eight and above from each school to form the Children's Brigade. They will function as the ambassadors of the district administration and would talk about various issues affecting children as well as create awareness on government schemes to ensure better service to the public. Chennai-based Nalanda Way Foundation would train the selected children in street plays, performing arts and newsletters with support from UNICEF. The children would also conduct exhibitions at village, panchayat and block levels to create awareness on ill effects of child labour, exploitation and child abuse. More than 50,000 talented boys and girls would be involved in this innovative programme. The administration has developed a software to track and monitor the status of all out-of-school children and potential child labourers in the district.
