Dindigul: U. Muthukumar (106) and S. Muthukumar (five for 51) helped Jahir Cricket Club (Vedasandur) register a 96-run victory over Sam Babu XI (Kodaikanal) in the Dindigul District Cricket Association first division league here on Sunday. The scores: First division: Jahir CC 268 for eight in 45 overs (U. Muthukumar 106, P. Gopi 50) bt Sam Babu XI 172 in 41.4 overs (V.L. Suresh Ekambaram 40, N. Murugesan 37, S. Muthukumar five for 51). Majestic Cubs CC 43 in 11.3 overs (S. Sakthivel five for 13, R. Rajasekar five for 30) lost to A.P. CC (Pillayarnatham) 44 for no loss in 3.4 overs. Second division: Kodai CC (Kodai Road) 125 in 25 overs (Murugesan four for 23) bt All Rounders CC 96 in 20 overs (Rajasekar three for 10, R. Subramani three for 10, V. Sakthi three for 12). Mansur Youngsters CC 74 in 17.4 overs (S. Senthil four for 15, T. Mohanraj three for six) lost to Buds Hindu Vidyalaya CC (Oddanchatram) 75 for seven in 23.4 overs.
Big win for Sethu FC
Sethu Football Club posted a thumping 5-1 victory over Acme SC in the Madurai District Football Association `A' division league, for the Hi-Tech Arai Trophy, at Madurai on Sunday. The results: Sethu FC 5 (Shajcham 2, Vasanth, Prabakar, Sankar) bt Acme SC 1 (Manikandan); South Zone Police 4 (Krishnamurthy, Parthasarathy, Nandakumar, Ravi) bt TVS Soccer Club 2 (Vijayarajan, Rajesh Kannan); Usilai Soccer Club (Usilampatti) 4 (Veerakumar 2, Stalin, Manikandan) bt Nehru FC 1 (Vignesh).
Starwin, the star
Friends Football Club `B' beat PSA SICAL FC by a solitary goal scored by Starwin while its `A' team drew goalless with Vilson FC in the Tuticorin District Football Association `A' division league at the Stadium ground, Tuticorin, on Sunday. On Saturday, Tuticorin Port Sports Council posted an emphatic 4-0 win over PSA SICAL. Vijay scored a brace while Praveen and Nicholas scored one goal each. Sports Correspondent
