ERODE: An urgent meeting of Gobichettipalayam Municipal council was convened on Friday night.

But it was adjourned without passing any resolution.

Gobichettipalayam Municipal chairperson Revathydevi (AIADMK) telephoned all councillors and asked to attend the meeting at 7.30 p.m. on Friday.

All councillors attended the meeting. The DMK-led DPA councillors questioned the chairperson why the meeting was convened in such an urgent manner, which is against the rules. Council meetings should be informed the councillors 24 hours before. The chairperson said under the Slum Development scheme the Union Government has sanctioned Rs. 2.75 crore to Gobichettipalayam Municipality.The amount would be given to the wards for construction of houses for the slum dwellers, she said.
