Probe into lawyer's assault ordered
A press release from the district administration said on Sunday that the RDO would conduct the inquiry at 11 a.m. on December 21 at the Revenue Divisional Office in the city. Persons having information about the incident could appear before the RDO and disclose it or give in writing. Secrecy of their identity and the information would be maintained, the release added. 13 children rescued from industrial units
A release said the team led by Labour Inspector K. Dharmalingam and Smile Project Director P.V. Viswanathan raided the hosiery and silver anklet manufacturing units in several parts of the city and found the children employed in them. Milk vendor robbed of cash at knifepoint
Police said the gang waylaid Masilamani (67) of Old Pettai on Saturday night near Kondanagaram and robbed Rs. 67,000 in cash from him at knifepoint while he was returning home. Sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts were pressed into service. Two special teams have been formed to nab the culprits.
Welfare assistance distributed
