Bharati Vidyapeeth alumni meeting

NEW DELHI: The Bharati Vidyapeeth Institute of Management and Research organised its alumni meet -- Milap 2006-07 -- here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Member of Parliament Shatrughan Sinha, who was the chief guest at the meet, shared several memories of his school and college days and underscored the impact they had on his life. "Prove yourself to be better than others. If you cannot, then prove yourself different from others," he said.

On the occasion, the alumni shared their experiences and highlighted the contribution of the alma mater in grooming them to face the challenges of life.

Focus on education, globalisation

NEW DELHI: The All-India University Employees' Confederation will organise a national-level seminar, "Impact of Globalisation on Universities and other Institutions of Higher Education", at Jawaharlal Nehru University City Centre here on Tuesday. Communist Party of India (Marxist) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury has been invited to be the chief guest on the occasion.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, National Democratic Alliance convenor George Fernandes and Communist Party of India national secretary D. Raja have also been invited to express their views on the occasion along with JNU professor Jayati Ghosh and Delhi University professor Vijendra Sharma.

Gorkha meeting planned

NEW DELHI: A three-day national council meeting of the Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh will be held at the LTG auditorium on Copernicus Marg here from Wednesday.

The meeting will be inaugurated by the Assam Legislative Assembly Speaker Tanka Bahadur Rai. Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will be the chief guest on the occasion.

As a non-political organisation, Bharatiya Gorkha Prisangh, reflects the thoughts and aspirations of the Gorkhas.

Hospital foundation day celebrated

NEW DELHI: "Maharaja Agrasen was a true symbol of socialism, national integration, non-violence and humanity and epitomises mutual co-operation and affection," said Member of Parliament Deepender Singh Hooda at Punjabi Bagh Club here over the weekend.

He was speaking on the occasion of 26th foundation day celebrations of Maharaja Agarsen Hospital Charitable Trust. Mr. Hooda also assured full co-operation for the proposed modern hospital and medical college to be set-up near Rohtak in Haryana.
