Normality returns to jail

No smuggled propaganda material of Hizb, Al-Mansoorian on premises

  • Semblance of normality returns
  • Worried parents throng jail

Jammu: A day after violence broke out in the Kot Bhalwal jail here, a semblance of normality prevailed inside the complex even as a massive clean-up operation continued. Six policemen were injured when a group of prisoners, including Pakistani nationals, threw stones at them on Sunday.

Jammu and Kashmir Director-General (Prisons) M.K. Mohanty told The Hindu that there was a bit of an exaggeration in the reports about the material found on the premises. There was no smuggled propaganda material of the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and Al-Mansoorian.

The reason for Sunday's incident was a demand by inmates to meet their relatives frequently , he said.
