Ashutosh Singh moves up

NEW DELHI: Lucky loser Ashutosh Singh defeated Pathanjali Ravishankar 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 to move into the pre-quarterfinals of the State Bank of Saurashtra $15,000 ITF Futures tennis tournament at the DLTA Complex here on Monday.

The fifth-seeded Karan Rastogi was quite fluent as he outplayed wild card Vishnu Vardhan for the loss of six games.

The results: Singles (first round): Karan Rastogi bt Vishnu Vardhan 6-4, 6-2; Hiroki Kondo (Jpn) bt Purav Raja 6-2, 6-2; Xavier Pujo (Fra) bt Vladislav Bondarenko (Ukr) 6-3, 6-4; Divij Sharan bt Navdeep Singh 4-6, 6-3, 6-4; Hsin-Han Lee (Tpe) bt Petar Jelenic (Cro) 6-1, 6-3; Todor Enev (Bul) bt Vijay Kannan 6-4, 6-4; Ashutosh Singh bt Pathanjali Ravishankar 2-6, 6-4, 6-4.
