CHANDIGARH: A School of Business is to be set up at Guru Jambheshwar University in Hisar. According to Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, it would be patterned on the Indian Institute of Management or the Harvard Business School. Mr. Hooda said it would be developed as a centre of excellence to provide education of international standard to the youth of Haryana. Also, an ITI would be set at Balsamand in Adampur in Hissar district. This would be in tune with the State's new Industrial Policy that has targeted an investment of Rs. 2 lakh crores to create 10 lakh jobs. And to make the manpower technically sound to compete in the global market, the State Government has fixed a target of producing 1.5 lakh trained manpower at the end of the 11th Five Year Plan. Deen Bandhu Sir Chhotu Ram State College of Engineering at Murthal would be upgraded to a University of Science and Technology where 10 seats would be reserved for local students. New courses have been introduced in Nano-Technology, Bio-Technology and Fashion Technology.
The Rajiv Gandhi Education City is being set up in Sonipat district as a centre of excellence and a National Law University is being set up at IMT Manesar in Gurgaon district. Mr. Hooda said the focus was on imparting technical and computer education and introducing new syllabi for schools and colleges in consonance with the requirements of industry. The Government has instituted management committees to maintain proper interaction and liaison between industries and Vocational Institutes .
