Madurai: A six-wicket haul by medium pacer V.V. Prabakaran and a brilliant 66 by Amalraj helped Arasaradi Cricket Club chalk out a 204-run victory over Oxford Cricket Club in the Madurai District Cricket Association first division league here on Sunday. The scores: Arasaradi CC 230 in 45.2 overs (Ramesh 34, Das Winsely 38, Amalraj 66, Aasish three for 40, Raffique three for 50) bt Oxford CC 26 in 11 overs (Ramesh four for 10, V.V. Prabakaran six for 12).
Gajendran scalps six
Annai Theresa Cricket Club (Periakulam), helped by a six-wicket haul by Gajendran, beat Free Birds CC `A' (Vadugapatti) by 73 runs in the Theni DCA second division league at Periakulam, on Sunday. The scores: First division: SRTM Juniors 151 for eight in 30 overs (Arun 32) lost to Nila CC (Aranmanai Pudur) 152 for two in 28.4 overs (Kathiravan 64 not out). Second division: Annai Theresa CC (Periakulam) 130 for nine in 25 overs (Suresh 30, John 50, Vallala Kandan three for 14) bt Free Birds CC `A' 57 in 13.4 overs (Gajendran six for 15). HKRH College (Uthamapalayam) 60 in 14.2 overs lost to Dharmasena CC (Karunagamuthampatti) 62 for nine in 13.1 overs (Hakim four for two). Free Birds CC `B' 25 in nine overs (Sukundan five for nine) lost to Kamakkapatti CC 26 for six in eight overs.

Third division: Red Diamonds CC 165 in 32 overs (Nivas Ali Khan 43, Sundaresan 43, Aditya four for 22) bt Janaranjani SC 44 in 16.1 overs (Nivas Ali Khan five for 14). Fourth division: Kaleeswar 201 for nine in 50 overs (Pravin 56, Saravanan 65) bt SIM CC 161 in 40.4 overs (Venkatesh 52).
Soya Sakthi wins
Soya Sakthi (Coimbatore) with a better game average was declared the champion of the 14th N. Balasubramania Mudaliar Memorial invitation two senior ball badminton fives tournament at the R.S. Puram Club courts here on Sunday. It was a three-way tie between Soya Sakthi, Roots (Chennai) and Himalayas Sports Club (Tirupur) as they all finished with two league wins. However, Soya Sakthi with a plus-five game average got past Roots (plus-three) for the title. The results (semifinal league): Soya Sakthi (Coimbatore) bt TRC (Coimbatore) 29-21, 29-6, bt Himalayas SC (Tirupur) 29-18, 29-19; Roots (Chennai) bt TRC 29-5, 29-7, bt Soya Sakthi 15-29, 29-23, 29-22; Himalayas bt TRC 29-12, 29-17, bt Roots 29-26, 19-29, 29-19.
