Residents of Somasila submersible villages to get cheques

KADAPA: Kadapa District and Sessions Judge M. Vijayalakshmi on Monday called upon 99 petitioners of Somasila submersible villages, whose cases were already settled in Lok Adalats, to take their compensation cheques on the district court premises on December 26 and 27.

Petitioners would have to take cheques at Hyderabad if they failed to receive cheques on the said dates, she told a press conference. They should produce their identity card, bank passbook, two photographs, cheque petition, stamped receipt and full satisfaction memo while receiving their cheques, she added.

Ms. Vijayalakshmi stressed the need for spreading public awareness on Domestic Violence Act. The act would benefit both men and women and was not against men, she stated. A juvenile court was functioning in Kadapa, she said and added that guardians would be punished if boys and girls aged under 18 lodged complaints of harassment.
