  • `Exports from the State surpasses the benchmark of Rs.25,000 crore'

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has decided to develop three industrial clusters at Panipat, Gurgaon and Faridabad for textiles, auto parts and light engineering equipment respectively, said Industries and Commerce Minister Lachhman Das Arora here on Monday. A Bio-Technology Park would also be set up at Manesar.

The State Government had been able to attract Direct Foreign Investment of Rs.1,380 crore after the implementation of new industrial policy in June 2005 giving statutory rights to investors for time-bound clearance of their projects. It had fixed a target of attracting investment worth Rs.2 lakh crore offering employment opportunities to 10 lakh people, he added.

Mr. Arora said exports from the State surpassed the benchmark of Rs.25,000 crore with the IT sector's share pegged at Rs.10,700 crore.

About 29 large and medium scale and 1,756 small scale industrial units had so far been set up during the tenure of the present Government which had provided employment to 16,780 people, he claimed.

Moreover, Industrial Entrepreneur Memoranda to set up 378 industrial units had been received involving an investment of Rs.5,896 crore. These would provide job opportunities to 74,853 people.

Mr. Arora said a single window system had been introduced to facilitate industrialists.

Two Investment Promotion Centres had been set up in Delhi and Chandigarh besides the Investment Promotion Board and Export Advisory Board headed by Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Also, a joint Task Force of industry and Government representatives had been instituted and attractive incentives had been announced for investors, especially NRIs. "And to give thrust to rural industrialisation, a Khadi and Gramodyog Board would be expanded," he added.
