National Day for the Mentally Retarded

CHENNAI
: Around 60 children participated in the celebration of the National Day for the Mentally Retarded (December 8) here on Sunday.
The Tambaram Parents' Association for the Mentally Retarded organised several events in collaboration with NSS volunteers of the University of Madras and Valliammal College, Lions Club of Madras - Saidapet, Vallalar Service Centre and the Theosophical Order of Service at Valliammal College for Women.
Sports meet and drawing competition were inaugurated in the morning by Shanth Kumar, Lions District Governor, District 324-A1.
A seminar was held in the afternoon.
S. Karunanidhi, head, department of psychology, University of Madras, delivered the keynote address.
