Oxford School's annual project held

CHENNAI: The annual project of the Oxford Matriculation Higher Secondary School was held recently.

While students of the primary section made presentations on `God's gift to mankind', students of the matriculation and higher secondary sections chose `Health is wealth' as their topic. S. Tamilmani, Inspector of Matriculation Schools, Chennai, inaugurated the project and principal P.K. Padma delivered the welcome address.

Mr. Tamilmani urged the students to work with a positive attitude.

Class IX students C. Shravan and Sathya Sunder of Alpha Matriculation came third in the inter-school science exhibition contest organised in November by the Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre in collaboration with the Madras Science Association. The contest was held in connection with the year 2007 being declared `International year of planet earth' by the International Union of Geo-Sciences (IUGS) and United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.

Students of the school also won the overall second place in `Actuaria', the inter-school Math contest conducted by the Madras Christian College. The competitions conducted included math puzzles, quizzes and Sudoku.

A career conference-cum-exhibition was an enlightening experience for students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Gill Nagar. Representatives from institutions of higher education and industry experts spoke to students about various courses and career options.

Senior persons from the Air Force and the Indian Navy also made presentations about opportunities in those fields.
