New Delhi: Manu Sharma, son of a senior Haryana Congress leader was on Monday lodged in Tihar Jail along with Amardeep Singh 'Tony' Gill after being convicted by the Delhi High Court in the Jessica Lal murder case.

Manu and Gill, an executive with a multinational firm, were kept in Jail number four in the high security prison where prisoners of Patiala House court are lodged, jail sources said. Manu had surrendered before the Delhi Police in the Capital, while Gill was taken into custody at the High Court.

Initially, both will not be assigned any job as the court is yet to pronounce the quantum of the sentence, they said.

``They will be treated like undertrials and will not be given any work. They will get work after the punishment is pronounced in the case on Wednesday,'' they said.

They are entitled to two interviews, each of half-an-hour duration, every week. The trio will get normal food -- dal, sabzi, roti -- for lunch and dinner in jail. They will have to participate in the daily activities in the jail including assembly and yoga, the source said.

Silence prevails

Meanwhile in Chandigarh, hours after conviction of Manu Sharma, the house of the high-profile family here wore a deserted look. While the two sugar mills, theatre, two hotels and a pub owned by Manu's father Venod Sharma carried business as usual, silence prevailed at the official as well as private residence of the Congress leader in the city. The normal buzz of visitors at the official residence of Sharma was not found today.

The guard deployed at the official residence of Sharma adjacent to Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's residence said ``nobody is around at present.'' Sources here said that the two sugar mills - Patran (Patiala) and at Bhadson (Karnal) - of the family carried out business as usual.
