dated December 20, 1956: Effect of bad coffee

"It was the effect of bad coffee," remarked the Deputy Speaker, Sardar Hukam Singh, in the Lok Sabha on December 18 when the Deputy Railway Minister, Mr. O.V. Alagesan, complained that Mr. H.V. Kamath had recently stopped a train by pulling the chain when he was served bad coffee. Mr. Alagesan said that if every member of the public reacted in this manner to bad catering, it would be impossible to run the railways. Mr. Kamath offered to tell the House the "whole story" but no one was in a mood for it after the Deputy Speaker's remark.
