KATHMANDU: The meeting of Council of Ministers or Cabinet has recommended some persons to be appointed ambassadors in 13 countries and permanent representatives in Geneva that were vacant since last eight months, The Himalayan Times daily reported on Tuesday. The recommended names will get confirmation only after the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee gives its opinion within the next 10 days. But, the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) that is going to be a part of the Government soon, has protested against the decision, by saying that they were not consulted on the issue and the decision was against the earlier agreements. The Maoists said that the appointment should have been made after the formation of interim government to take all political forces into confidence. As per the Cabinet decision, Suresh Chalise, Prime Minister's foreign affairs advisor has been recommended ambassador to the United States and Surya Kiran Gurung, current general secretary of Parliament, to Russia. Nepali Congress leader Shailaja Acharya has been recommended for India, career diplomat Pradeep Katiwada for Bangladesh, Pramesh Hamal for Belgium and European Union, Hamid Ansari for Saudi Arabia and Ganesh Yonjan for Japan. The former parliamentarian Bal Bahadur Kunwar has been recommended ambassador to Pakistan. Xinhua
