KOZHIKODE: The Calicut Piece Goods Merchants Association has demanded a "one-month - long ban on dharna, and other forms of protest besides processions in the vicinity of Mananchira in view of the Malabar Shopping Festival beginning on Wednesday. The association also appealed to the authorities concerned to remove wayside vendors from the usually crowded S.M. Street, Court Road, MP Road and Palayam, as their activities would hamper smooth flow of vehicular traffic. The appeal seeking ban protests and processions near Mananchira was made in a resolution passed at a meeting of the association presided over by association president S.D. Shenoi.
