HYDERABAD: Amid unruly scenes, 46 Opposition members, including Leader of the Opposition N. Chandrababu Naidu, were suspended from the Andhra Pradesh Assembly during question hour on Tuesday for disrupting proceedings and seeking a discussion again on Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy's lands. Floor leaders of the TRS, CPI (M) and BJP G. Vijayarama Rao, N. Narasimhaiah and G. Kishen Reddy respectively were among those suspended. After their suspension, Mr. Naidu and other opposition members staged a dharna outside the Assembly. They later marched in procession to Raj Bhavan demanding dismissal of the Chief Minister.
Memo presented
During the "padayatra," the CPI (M) members tied black cloth to their mouths while TDP members held placards and photographs of the land owned by Dr. Reddy and his family at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district and raised slogans against the Chief Minister. With Governor Rameshwar Thakur camping in Bhubaneshwar, they presented their memorandum to his Secretary M. G. Gopal. Mr. Naidu later told presspersons that the Chief Minister had no right to continue in the post after admitting to holding 1600 acres in contravention of seven different laws besides violating the oath of office. He wanted the Governor to dismiss and grant permission for Dr. Reddy's prosecution. TRS and BJP floor leaders echoed his demand while the CPI (M) leader said his party only sought his prosecution.
