HYDERABAD: T. Harish Rao of Telangana Rashtra Samiti cited numerous violations of the six-point formula affecting the interests of the Telangana region. "In such an event, why should the people of Telangana remain in a united state," he asked. Initiating a debate on the implementation of G.O. 610 in the Assembly on Tuesday, he regretted that not a single person from Telangana was appointed as Advocate-General so far in the State's long history. He charged the Government with lacking sincerity in implementing the GO and with making no effort towards rectifying the anomalies in recruitment faced by the Telangana people. He said despite tall claims, not even 200 employees belonging to Coastal Andhra working in Hyderabad were repatriated so far. Instead, 80 per cent of the 15,000 youths recruited through `outsourcing' for different departments were found to be from Coastal Andhra. There were not even 10 persons from Telangana among the 120 candidates appointed recently as computer operators in the Secretariat. None of the 466 police personnel in Hyderabad, identified as non-locals, had been repatriated while a Government Order was issued to bring 27 teachers from Coastal Andhra to Hyderabad.
All-party panel
The Energy Department was silent when a clarification was sought on local cadre by distribution companies to undertake recruitment. T. Devender Goud (TDP) demanded constitution of an all-party committee on GO 610 so that it could summon even top officials, including the Chief Secretary, if there was any lapse. He criticised the Government for appointing various committees on the GO to delay its implementation and thus "deceive Telangana."G. Chinna Reddy (Congress) said justice to Telangana was possible only under the Congress dispensation. Contesting the views expressed by Mr Harish Rao, he said the Home Minister had fulfilled his promise by initiating the process to repatriate non-locals among the Hyderabad police. Already 262 persons were recruited to facilitate repatriation. He said the six-point formula had been violated 126 times so far but they could be rectified by implementing the 35 recommendations of the Girglani Committee.
