BCCI suspends officials
NEW DELHI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has suspended match referee Sambaran Banerjee and umpire Sameer Bandekar from officiating this season.
The Board found them guilty of dereliction of duty during the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh Ranji Trophy Super League match at the Ferozeshah Kotla here.
The incident occurred on December 4, the final day of the match. The two officials had left the venue to watch an under-22 match involving Bengal even before the match had been called off due to bad light.
The umpires' sub-committee of the Board took the decision based on the media reports even though the host association chose not to lodge any complaint in this regard. Special Correspondent
