Compassionate grounds job rules simplified

Staff Correspondent

BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday approved a "simplified procedure" for giving employment on compassionate grounds to dependents of Government employees who die while in service.

Briefing media persons, School Education Minister Narottam Mishra said the Cabinet had accepted the report of its sub-committee headed by Finance Minister Raghavji about the procedure for giving employment on compassionate ground.

The dependents of Government employees who die in service would now receive a compassionate amount of Rs. 1 lakh along with gratuity.

In the absence of a vacant post, all cases of employment under compassionate grounds would be treated as closed on payment of an ad hoc amount of Rs. 1 lakh to beneficiaries eligible for employment as Class IV employees.

In departments with vacant posts, all compassionate appointments would be made within one month. If there was no vacant post in any department, the matter would be referred to the District Collector.

The Cabinet also decided that families of Government employees who die in service would continue to receive the last pay drawn by the deceased employee for five years or till the date of retirement (whichever is earlier) if their dependents who would be eligible for appointment as contract teachers on compassionate grounds refuse to take up the assignment.

The Cabinet also decided to create two news posts of Director in the Health Department and regularise the services of assistant surgeons and dental surgeons who have completed two years of service on a contract basis.
