BANGALORE: Top-seeded Akansha Kohli led the way into the semifinals of the girls' under-18 singles with a fluent 6-1, 6-1 win over Angela Vincent in the Mahila Seva Samaj Tennis Club's State-ranking championship at the club courts here on Tuesday. Akansha was joined in the last four round by Nimisha Mohan, M.P. Nitha and Rachita Sarda. One-sided encounters also marked the girls' under-12 and under-10 singles quarterfinals. The results (quarterfinals): Under-18: Akansha Kohli bt Angela Vincent 6-1, 6-1; M.P. Nitha bt Pooja Patil 6-2, 6-2; Rachita Sarda bt Likitha Shetty 6-2, 6-2; Nimisha Mohan bt Archana 6-4, 6-1. Under-12: Nikitha Telkar bt Shruthi Prashanth 6-1, 6-1; Dhruthi bt R. Reshma 6-1, 6-4; Preethi Gokhale bt Anchala 6-2, 6-1; Sahana Shroff bt S. Shwetha 6-2, 6-1. Patrick hits century
Patrick Das's 105 guided Presidency School RT Nagar to 272 for eight in the stipulated 55-over first innings against St. Joseph's Boys' High School in a Parle Cup under-17 inter-school cricket tournament semifinal that commenced here on Tuesday. At close, St. Joseph's Boys' HS scored 133 for nine in 55 overs and conceded a 139-run lead to Presidency School. The scores: Presidency School (RT Nagar) 272 for eight in 55 overs (Patrick Das 105, Prithvi Ramesh 52, Aman Raj 51, S. Rahul four for 49) vs. St. Joseph's Boys' HS 133 for nine in 55 overs (P. Prashant 59, Waseem Baig four for 19). Presidency School (Bangalore-96) 169 in 51.3 overs (K. Sashindra 52) vs. FAPS 151 for eight in 54 overs (Karun Nair 45, Nihal Unni 41, S. Rohit four for 61).
Hat-trick by Khalander
Four goals, including a hat-trick, by Khalander took Al Ameen College to a big 6-0 win over Surana College in the Rotary Bangalore Indiranagar-KSFA inter-collegiate football tournament at the Football Stadium here on Tuesday. Johnson scored the other two goals for Al Ameen. In another match, RBANM First Grade College too scored a 6-0 win over St. Joseph's Evening College. Karthik (3), Chandrashekar (2) and Lama got the goals for the winner.
Shreyas to lead
Shreyas Gopal will lead Karnataka in the South Zone KSCA under-13 tournament here from December 20 to January 8. The team: Shreyas Gopal (captain), D. Nishchal, Abhishek Reddy, S. Nirmal, K.N.
