GOs will hit institutions' functioning: JAC

HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh Joint Action Committee of Aided Institutions' Employees has sought the withdrawal of GOs 96 and 35, which, it said, would severely affect the institutions' functioning. While GO 96 bans recruitment to fill vacancies, GO 35 scraps vacant teachers' posts.

G. Sridhar Reddy, chairman, and N. Narayana, secretary-general, told a press conference here on Tuesday that following the GO 96 issued on December 4 about 8,000 posts would get scrapped affecting the interests of 8.38 lakh students.

It would not only pose additional burden on 21,000 teachers, but also deprive educated and trained youth of employment opportunities. They said the GO 35 would result in severe shortage of lecturers in 388 aided colleges and would make their future uncertain.
