Man with pistol detained at Alipiri

Special Correspondent

TIRUPATI: Dinesh Panduranga Bhogle (30) from Maharashtra was detained on Monday night while he was trying to proceed to Tirumala on board a jeep allegedly carrying a revolver, 13 bullets and a brochure containing literature belonging to a particular religion. The TTD's vigilance sleuths, who checked his baggage at the Alipiri check-post, later handed him over to the police. The police on Tuesday crossed-checked his antecedents by contacting the PWD Department in Dubey district of Maharastra where he said he was working as a civil engineer. The information provided by Dinesh and the details on his ID card tallied with the inputs given by his officers in Maharashtra, sources said. He told the police that he had found the revolver, bullets and the literature in a packet in the Sabari Express by which he was travelling to Kerala.
