TO BURIAL GROUND: BJP leaders taking out the `funeral procession' of an LPG cylinder in Tirupati on Tuesday.
TIRUPATI: The Tirupati (urban) unit of the BJP has today chosen a novel way to register its protest against the acute scarcity and black-marketing of LPG refills in the State. As though to symbolically state that the LPG refills were now `dead and gone', BJP and BJYM activists turned themselves into pall-bearers and took out a `funeral procession' of an empty cylinder. Leaders addressing the procession regretted that the dark days of LPG scarcity and black-marketing were once again back. They charged that the situation had become so acute that not only were the LPG traders taking 45 days to supply the refills but even the available cylinders have gone `underground' and are easily available to those who were ready to shell down Rs. 600 for each cylinder. The leaders led by district unit president G. Narayanaswamy Naidu, town unit head Samanchi Srinivas and the State general secretary of BJYM B. Bhanuprakash Reddy said that both the Central and State Governments owe an apology to housewives for their inept rule.
