Two farmers die in hospital

One commits suicide, other dies of poisoning

ANANTAPUR: Two farmers of the district, who were admitted to the general hospital here with different reasons, died under treatment on Tuesday.

While one attempted suicide, another was taken ill after spraying pesticide on his crop.

According to the police, Pulla Reddy, 50, a farmer Dharmavaram rural mandal, attempted suicide by consuming pesticide on Monday, allegedly due to distress caused by failure of crops for the last three years.

He had five acres of land and had sunk three bore wells.He apparently had incurred debts to the tune of Rs. 2 lakhs. He was rushed to a hospital and he died on Tuesday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Adinarayana, 28, a farmer of Tagguparthi village was taken ill due to poisoning on December 12, while he was spraying pesticide on his Bengal gram crop. He was admitted to the Government Hospital at Kalyanadurg.
