THE BOOTY: Gold jewellery recovered from two inter-State robbers arrested at Anantapur on Tuesday.
ANANTAPUR: The Two Town police on Tuesday arrested two inter-State burglars and recovered about 479 grams of gold jewellery worth Rs. 5 lakhs. They got the jewellery in six robberies committed during July-November this year. Giving details to newspersons, Anantapur DSP G.S. Karunakar said that on specific information Two Town CI John Manohar, SI Prasad Reddy and their team of constables nabbed the two burglars on NH-7 near Rudrampet here. The nabbed burglars were identified as K. Nagaraju of Marthadu village in Garladinne mandal, presently living in Bellary, and C. Anand of Vijayanagar Colony in Anantapur, presently living in Bangalore. The two had criminal background and had already been to jail in robbery and murder cases, respectively. They turned friends in jail. After coming out from jail the two had chosen burglaries as means of earning and accordingly targeted locked houses. While Anand used to stand guard,Nagaraju would break the latches to enter the houses and commit burglaries, the DSP said . The two had committed robberies in the houses of Shailesh Pal on Court Road on July 7, K. Madhavan in Kovurnagar on July 23, Y. Subbalaxmi in Adarshnagar on August 30, K. Ravindra in Vidyutnagar on October 3 and M. Venkatakrishna in Ramnagar on November 26. The DSP complimented the efforts of the CI, SI and their team.
