Directive to State Government on deputation of teachers

HIGH COURTRound-up Petition challenges their deputation as personal assistants to MLAs

BANGALORE: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the State Government to place on record as to whether any teacher is still continuing as personal assistant to MLAs.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph and Justice B.S. Patil passed the order on a petition challenging the deputation of teachers as personal assistants to MLAs. The case was adjourned to January 23.

Adjourned

The same Bench adjourned further hearing on a public interest litigation (PIL) petition on violation of building bylaws and zonal regulations in Koramangala locality of Bangalore.

When the matter came up, the government advocate said the Legislature was dealing with a Bill pertaining to regularising deviations in buildings.

Fee structure

The Bench admitted a petition by students of a medical college in Bijapur and another college challenging the higher fee structure for them as against a lower fee structure arrived at by the managements of private institutions and the Government. It ordered issue of notices to State and other respondents.

Organ transplant

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice, Cyriac Joseph, and Justice B.S. Patil directed the Centre to place a comprehensive affidavit by the Secretary of the Union Health and Family Welfare Department on the issue of human organs transplant.

Rent collection0

The Bench adjourned to January 29 a petition seeking collection of rent from Ministers and MLAs who have overstayed in the Government bungalows.

Dismissed

The Bench dismissed a petition by former Minister H. Vishwanath seeking to make Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna a party in a writ petition.
