HASSAN: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) divisional controller Ganganna Gowda has said that this year, 25,000 bus passes have been distributed to students in Hassan district. Mr. Gowda told presspersons during an informal chat that the issuing of tenders for the construction of a new bus stand at a cost of Rs. 20 crore in Chennapatna Tank area in Hassan was over and the work would soon begin. He said the decision to build a new bus stand had been taken as 1,200 buses passed daily through through Hassan city and this had led to congestion. He said that before March, the KSRTC planned to start 18 new bus services. Regarding complaints that there were not enough buses to Arsikere and Tiptur from Hassan at certain times of the day, Mr. Gowda said that the frequency of buses on these routes had been increased.
