BELLARY: The change in the timings of Amaravati Express between Vijayawada and Hubli has inconvenienced passengers, especially office-goers from Bellary city, according to a travellers' association here.
Route extended
The changes in the train's timings were effected after its route was extended to Howrah recently. Its departure time from Bellary was, therefore, advanced from 7:25 a.m. to 5.20 a.m. The next train from here towards Hubli (Hampi Express) leaves at 6:10 a.m. These timings have been causing inconvenience to daily travellers shuttling between Bellary and Koppal.
`Help office-goers'
The association has urged G. Karunakar Reddy, MP, to request Railway authorities to arrange for alternate train timings that would suit office-goers better. In a memorandum submitted to Mr. Reddy, the association members have requested that the Railway authorities be asked to arrange for the departure of Hampi Express from here at 6.45 a.m. They have also requested for an advancement in the departure timing of the Bangalore-Hospet passenger train from Bellary, to 8.00 a.m. from 10.45 a.m.; an extension of the Bangalore-Hospet passenger train up to Gadag and arrangement for its departure from there at 3.00 p.m. daily; and a restoration of the Guntakal-Gadag passenger train service.
