BSNL union polls peaceful

POLL SCENE: An employee of the BSNL going through the formalities before casting his vote for the union elections in Nalgonda on Tuesday.

NALGONDA: As many as 98.3 percent of BSNL employees (group C & D) in the district took part in the elections held to recognise the official union on Tuesday.

Hectic campaign

Polling marked hectic campaign by the leaders of various trade unions at polling stations in Nalgonda, Bhongir, Suryapet, Kodad, Mirylaguda, Choutuppal and Devarakonda. There are 732 votes in the district and counting will take place on December 21, according to official sources. The National Federation of Telcom Employees (NFTE) and BSNL Employees Union locked horns in this third biennial election. It may be recalled that the BSNL Employees Union emerged victorious by defeating the NFTE and BMS in the elections held in 2004.
