Sculptors from State ignored: expert
Staff Reporter
`Shilpa Soundarya,' a book on sculpture released Temples have not adopted Hoysala and Chalukya style of sculpture
BANGALORE:
Expert on sculpture G. Jnananda on Tuesday said it was unfortunate that Karnataka and its sculptors were being ignored and not getting the attention they deserved. Speaking at a function organised by the Karnataka Shilpakala Academy and India Foundation for The Arts to release "Shilpa Soundarya," written by T. Pankajaksha, Mr. Jnananda said none of the temples that were being constructed in the city have adopted Karnataka's "Hoysala and Chalukya" style of sculpture.
"Though these are our very own styles, it is unfortunate that they are not being used in the new constructions. Karnataka's culture does not relate only to language, books and printed matter alone. Shilpakala (sculpture) is also an integral part of our culture," he said.
